Asynchronous Online
The asynchronous format has no scheduled class meetings: you work through the lecture videos, readings, and assignments on your own schedule, paced by weekly deadlines.
The Midterm Exams Are Not Asynchronous
Both midterms are in-person evening exams (Exam 1: Wednesday, October 7 · Exam 2: Tuesday, November 17, each 8:00–9:00 PM). West Lafayette students take them on the West Lafayette campus; Indianapolis students take them on the Indianapolis campus with Dr. Matangi. Please confirm you can attend before enrolling in this section.

Brightspace quizzes (8%)
Completed online in Brightspace, typically due Friday. The lowest quiz score is dropped at the end of the semester.
Homework and computer assignments (24%)
Delivered through Edfinity, typically due Tuesday before midnight. Homework problems are automatically graded with multiple attempts allowed. Computer assignments use a provided data set and require R code, graphs, and written interpretation; they are hand-graded by TAs, normally by the Sunday after the deadline. The lowest score is dropped. Late work is accepted within 48 hours at a 20% penalty.
Exams (68%)
Two in-person evening midterms (20% each) and a comprehensive final (28%), all taken on campus. See Course Syllabus — Fall 2026 for dates, crib sheet rules, and makeup policy.
Staying on Track
Check Brightspace announcements and your Purdue email regularly — due dates and course changes are posted there.
Budget 10–15 hours per week for readings, videos, homework, and review, and put the weekly deadlines on your calendar.
Use the Brightspace Q/A and Private Discussions forums for questions; responses usually arrive within 24 hours (48 hours over weekends).
